New Year Shopping 2011

My sister in law's company organised a shopping spree to Woodlands and Defu area for CNY shoppings. I dont expect to get so many things from there and I nearly ran out of cash ! Most of the factories except cash Only. I think we will go there again as the things are really fresh and value for money. I forgot to bring my camera if not I can take a pics of one of the cold room actually a freezer to shop in there ! They even provide a jacket to go in. I didnt wear but regretted cos its real cold, I  juz grab anything I can find and came out. The picture taken were juz 1/4 portion of what I bought. This is a tiring but satisfying trips !

Braised Chicken Noodle And Muah Chee

I used a rice cooker to braised the chicken - a method taught by my mum. According to her the meat will remain tender and will not be break into pieces. I added water and place another smaller pot filled with sauce and meat with egg. I only need to switch on and off twice. It act as a magic pot too. Best off all it saves gas and electricity !

My son has been pestering me to make Muah Chee, he always buys from school canteen at 40cents.
I tried the Muah Chee recipe from Reese Kitchen. I didnt add extra sugar as the ground peanut from Camel Brand was sweet enough. Verdict - It was so good that they polish off the whole plate in less then few minutes !

Potato Fried Rice

Hubby's 拿手好菜- Egg cum Potato Fried Rice. It set everyone drooling whenever he announce his cooking this.

Trail Pineapple Tart (Preparing for CNY2011)

I've not been baking for 3 months! My new year resolution will be to bake at least once a month and try the new recipe books. Recently, whilst shopping at Ntuc and other shopping centres, they have started on the new year goodies, and songs. That motivated me and reminds me that CNY is drawing near. I've decided to try on Pineapple Tart as this is a must have goodies for this festive season. As this is only a trail, I decided to do it on my own, without any help! Yes I made it and  I took the whole morning and only managed to fill up 3 tubs. I used Lurpak butter instead of Ntuc or SCS. Verdict : We dont find any difference lor.. so will stick to cheaper brand the next round. I've calculated the cost and its half the price of what we bought from the market - exclude labour cost. But the joy of making on our own is beyond comprehend.
