Happy Teacher's Day

Baked a butter cookie for Teacher's Day. My girl was so thrilled as she helps to mould the cookie and insisted she do it all by herself. Finally get to use the moulds and lettering bought from Japan.

Hearty Buns

Recipe : Happy Hombaker

Birthday Treats

I've have these during my recent birthday celebration.

First stop breakfast at Cedele at Raffles City.
Lunch at Kyoto Sabo AjiTei (Plaza Singapura), when I saw they serves Unagi, without hesitation we juz went in as we really  Japanese food alot ! But was disappointed as its not to our expectation.

Dinner At Ritz Calton - Green House. Great Service & Food.

Fruit Pastry

Its abit on the sweet side after reducing the sugar. I'll will try using Lurpuk butter cos I find that its not as fragrant as most bloggers claim to be.

Kueh Lapis

I've finally made my own kueh lapis last weekend. I was not confident as one of my friend from the baking class said her lapis was wet in the middle ! With Esther encouragement I carried on with this "BIG" project I've been wanting to achieve since the last CNY after trying hers I told myself I've got to bake one for my family. I was not really satisfied with the first round but surprisingly everyone including my sister enjoyed the cake very much! They said its was very fragrant with the ginger spice and most importantly not oily at all. My brother in law ordered 1 tray from me for 22 senior staffs meeting on thursday. I was ofcourse elated as I was paid to practice. LOL. He told me everyone enjoyed it very much, even those who dont eat lapis also makan. So I've got another order again this week !

Japan - Tokyo

I managed to get lots of baking stuff during my recent trip to Japan. They have huge selections for an item. I simply could not resist this temptation! My whole luggage was full my "toys" that's what my children says. They are full of envy. Hahaha... Imagine for timer and weighing scale it has more then 10 different brands and colours. How to resist not buying? And the price is cheaper then here too!
If you ever go Tokyo you must visit Kappabashi Department. You can spend almost 1 whole day there. Too bad I'm the only who appreciate these so I only covered half of the area. Take the subway on Ginza Line in Tawaramachi (its only 1 stop away from my hotel) Station and exit at number 3. Turn left and right and walk for 8mins and you will see a giant statue of a chef on top of the building(see pics). From there thats the start of Kappabashi Department. Visit during weekdays as only 30% of the shops are open on Sunday.

Ps. For your info, this is only half of the stuff I bought.  hehehe...

My friend recommended me this particular shops that sells very nice and reasonable Unagi at Shimbashi. She only told me its at Shimbashi Station, luckily I printed out the address as the whole area at Shimbashi are full of food streets. We managed to find after 20mins of search ! After coming out of the station look out for Astil Building (opposite KFC). On the right look out for Tsukiji Sushiko. Walk along the small street and thats the shop. Btw, its worth the effort, we didnt regret as its really really nice.

Yam Mousse Cake

This cake is quite easy to make except for the creaming. I sat there for nearly 30mins and still cant cream evenly. Well needs more practice. Initially I had wanted to put the word  "寿" but then the word simply cant disloge from the cutter. Thank God my son came in,  he thought I'm playing with playdough and suggested moulding a tiger instead for my mum ! I asked him, can you do it - He said :TRY lah.. no harm trying" .......and so I passed the baton to him and TADAH - a cute little tiger juz appeared within a few minutes. As I'll be baking a cake for my dad in two weeks time, I asked him to mould a cow for his grandfather as well... my little gal also wanted to do something and so she moulded a litte flower to be added on to the tigress...... So cute isnt it ! As for taste, they simply loves it - that applies to those who likes Yam. Guess nowadays you cant find such authentic taste in an ordinary cake shop. We celebrated my mum's birthday at the Calton Hotel.

Fruit Cheesecake

Fruit Cheese Cake has always been our family's all time favourite, I've used this to bake Mother's Day CheeseCake and Christmas Cake. Recently my sister in law suggested I should sell this, and so she became my saleswomen. She brought two boxes to her office  and guess what, within a week we received 4 orders ! We were excited. Now we are trying ways to improvise it, as it decoration, packaging etc.  Anyone interested ?

1box 8"by 8" in aluminium box is $22,birthday cakes additional $8.

The intensity of the sun makes it easier to take nice, rich colour photos.
